In the wake of the deadly blast that rocked Bodija Estate, Ibadan on Tuesday evening, a popular radio station in Ibadan, Fresh FM Nigeria has revealed fresh facts about the miner, occupants of the building, and how the explosion started.
The investigations which was conducted by the station’s Situation Room, anchored by Mayor Isaac Brown, said a Malian and former President of Oyo State Association of Miners, Yousuf Sewane is the official tenant of the Bodija building that housed the mining explosives, but he is believed to be out of the country.
The radio station quoted the Wefare Officer of Bodija Estate Landlord’s Association as saying that another occupant of the building identified as Camara Mamodou, who claimed to be a commercial motorcycle operator, is working for Sewane.
It was gathered that the explosives of high calibre that caused the havoc at the ground zero house, were meant to be taken to Kajola Local Government Area of Oyo State for mining operations.
The team also learnt that the agents working for Sewane that were to pay security agents for escorts, chose to short change internal arrangements to cut corners and moved the consignment to the incident location.
About 15 agents working for Sewane were believed to be at the building when the incident happened and majority were alleged to have died at ground zero.
It is still not clear if Camara Mamodou died in the blast as his known telephone number has been unreachable.
The explosives were believed to have been ignited by the fire outbreak at the adjoining building next to ground zero, the epicentre of the event.
