The Ibadan Compounds Peace Initiative, Association of Ibadan Mogajis and Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) have commissirated with victims of Tuesday night’s explosion at Dejo Oyelese Street, Adeyi Avenue, Bodija, Ibadan.
Recall that two people died while many sustained injuries in the incident.
A statement by the President of Association of Ibadan Mogajis, Mogaji Asimiyu Ariori and Coordinator, Ibadan Compound Peace Initiative, Mogaji Nurudeen Akinade, urged the state government to critically look into how agencies grant license to miners and owners of petrol and gas stations.
“Virtually all minor spaces within Ibadan, all the interior parts of the city have been turned into liquefied gas stations. Some of them are so close to where roadside canteens cook.
“Most of the owners of the gas and petrol stations are non-indigines who don’t care about the well being of the people around them,” the statement said.
It urged the state government to put machinery in place to forestall a future occurrence.
They also condoled with Oyo State Government, Olubadan of Ibadan land and Ibadan sons and daughters over the unfortunate incident.
