The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has said he will build upon the gains of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
Tinubu spoke on Tuesday at the ministerial performance review retreat held at the presidential villa, Abuja.
He said his administration woulf be devoted to further protect and prosper the Nigerian people if elected into office in 2023.
He said: “I listened intently to the various submissions, success stories and highlights, including the most challenging areas in which more must be done to improve the lot of the Nigerian people.
“I have resolved to build upon the gains of this administration; adding new ideas that will deliver value for all Nigerians.
“Together, we will achieve shared prosperity. Most importantly, a Tinubu government will be devoted to further protect and prosper the Nigerian people because our guiding principle will be to provide the best of progressive governance and reform to our beloved land.”
The former Lagos State Governor added that Buhari’s achievements might go unappreciated at the moment but the history books would be fair to the president.
“May I say this to you, to the entire team, the things you have done are important and enduring, try as they might, no one can take those achievements away from you.
“Yet, it is the fate of the selfless worker to labour too hard and too long to write his own story.
“He would rather accomplish all the things to do than to focus attention on himself or herself. Thus, his history is not always laid accurately too.
“His labour and achievements may go unappreciated for a moment, however, that moment cannot last and cannot lie, in due course, the full essence of this administration and the contribution would be well known and understood very well,” he said.
Speaking, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, said the event was meant to showcase key achievements of the Buhari administration.
“Secondly, it will reflect on lessons and good practices from the Kenyan presidential delivery unit while the third is ways to accelerate the delivery of flagship projects and programmes of the Buhari administration before the end of the tenure in May 2023,” Mustapha said.
