A former federal lawmaker, Sen Adesoji Akanbi, has said no transformation or growth comes without pains.
Akanbi, in a statement to mark the 63rd independence anniversary of Nigeria, which was made available to newsmen on Suanday, said the Nigeria of today is completely different from the dreams of the nation’s long gone patriotic leaders who fought for the independence.
“No transformation or growth comes without pains. It is so unfortunate that the system at hand is so rotten that what President Bola Tinubu battles with is a hydra-headed monster. Every right thinking person will still have to support the government to rescue and redeem the ugly situation.
“We must however not allow our political differences to destroy the main fabric of our existence. Mr President did asked for the job and he knew what he wanted. However, it is possible that he met a different situation now while on the job. This is time we the disciples of PBAT need to encourage the populace that his capacity and capability to deliver is still intact,” he said.
Akanbi noted that President Bola Tinubu has done very well to attract international investors, adding that all arms of government must make the nation an investment friendly hub.
“Nigeria has all it takes to compete with other emerging economies considering labour cost and market size.
“At this juncture, Mr President and those in government should stop the blame- game. All hands must be on deck, be pro-active and serve with a clear-cut agenda on policies to tackle the dwindling economic situation for a gain in i
the immediate, short and long-term for the betterment of all.
“Nigerians must all be in sober mood and be prayerful. Celebration of our Independence must be enjoyed as it reminds us of our history, determine our present and hope for the future.
“I use this medium to congratulate Nigerians in all walks of life a very happy Independence Day celebration.
“Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he added.
