A middle-aged man, identified as John Timothy, has been arraigned for allegedly stealing the sum of N1.2 million from the bank account of a deceased person.
The suspect was arraigned before Magistrate Oluwabusayo Osho, at Iyaganku magistrates’ court, Ibadan, on Thursday.
The suspect who pleaded not guilty is facing two charges bordering on conspiracy and theft.
During proceedings, Police prosecutor, Olalekan Adegbite, said the suspect committed the offence between May 17, 2021 and July 21, 2021.
Adegbite said the offence contravenes sections 516 and 390(9) of the criminal laws of Oyo State, 2000.
He said the suspect stole the money from the Access Bank account of one Johnson David, who is late.
The alleged theft was discovered by one Daniel David, son of the deceased.
Ruling, Osho granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The magistrate adjourned the case till May 7 for hearing.
