Super Eagles and Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen, has won the Best African International Player prize at the 5th edition of the Ghana Football Awards.
Osimhen was announced the winner during the award ceremony, held at the Accra International Conference Center, on Sunday.
The 24-year-old got the highest number of votes ahead of Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah; Manchester City winger, Riyad Mahrez and Morocco’s Yassine Bounou.
Osimhen claimed the award for the first time and also became the first Nigerian to achieve the feat.
The Napolis striker had previously won two individual awards this season.
Osimhen played a major role as Napoli won their first Serie A title in 33 years.
He scored 26 goals in the Italian topflight to become the first-ever African to achieve the feat.
He was named the best striker in Serie A for the just concluded campaign.
Also, he scored two goals as the Super Eagles beat Sierra Leone 3-2 to qualify for the 2023 AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire.
