Following the invasion of Oyo State Government Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan by suspected Odua nation agitators on Saturday, the Ibadan Compound Peace Initiative (ICPI) in collaboration with the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) has summoned a special security meeting.
The meeting, which has been scheduled for Wednesday, April 17, 2024 will hold at Ibadan House, Oke-Aremo, at 11am.
A statement by ICPI Coordinator, Mogaji Nurudeen Akinade, said the Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Security Matters, CP Fatai Owoseni (Rtd); all heads of security agencies in the state, Obas, Baales, Chiefs, Mogajis, local government chairmen, local security volunteers, Oyo State Market Council executive, as well as Babaloja and Iyaloja General of Oyo State are expected at the meeting.
Also expected at the meeting are all zonal heads of market men and women across the state as well as various religious organisations among others.
Akinade said the meeting became necessary to forestall future occurrence of what happened on Saturday.
He said stakeholders at the meeting will brainstorm on how to strengthen security architecture of Ibadan land and Oyo State in general.
Recall that CCII, Olubadan-in-Council, Obas, Mogajis, Baales, Ibadan elders, leadership of various market councils and community development associations have condemned the invasion of the state secretariat by the suspected Odua nation agitators.
They warned the agitators to stay away from Ibadan and the entire Oyo State, saying residents will not condone such insult again.
CCII President-General, Barr. Niyi Ajewole, also called for thorough investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate incident.
He said whoever was involved in the act, directly or indirectly, should be fished out and brought to book.
