The lawmaker representing Oyo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Sen Sharafadeen Alli, has dissociated himself from a purported palliative distribution in his name.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Akeem Abas, Alli said one Alhaji Azeez has been deceiving people by claiming that he would provide them with palliatives from him (Alli) if people pay some money.
“It has been reported that he collected N70,000 from the Bode Alagbo market in Ibadan under false pretenses.
“We want to inform the general public that Sen. Sharafadeen Alli has not sent anyone to distribute palliatives on his behalf. He will never demand money from anyone in exchange for providing palliatives.
“Therefore, we urge the public to be cautious when transacting business with Alhaji Azeez or any other individual claiming to distribute palliatives on behalf of the senator.
“We want to emphasise that we do not condone any form of fraudulent activities, and we will not hesitate to take legal action against individuals found engaging in such activities.
“We urge the public to report any suspicious individuals or activities to the appropriate authorities to avoid falling victim to fraud.
“We want to reiterate that Sen. Sharafadeen Alli has not authorised the distribution of palliatives through Alhaji Azeez or any other person,” the statement said.
The lawmaker urged the public to be wary of such individuals, adding that people should not indulge in any financial transactions with them.
