The Sultan Bello Hall of the University of Ibadan last weekend honoured the publisher of Parrot Xtra Magazine, Olayinka Agboola and other individuals for their contributions to the development of Nigeria.
The event which was held at the Sultan Bello Hall Dome was the Ivory Tower Awards and Distinguished Lectures.
Professors Soji Adejumo and Dipo Otolorin as well as Honourable Olasupo Abiodun delivered lectures on the event’s theme, “Nigeria at 58: Prospects Beyond The Golden Jubilee, Place of The Youths”.
Agboola, who was a resident of the famous Sultan Bello Hall during his days as a student of the university was given an award as a ‘Worthy Ambassador’ in recognition of his achievements, immense and selfless contributions to Nigeria and humanity.
Agboola was in Bello Hall between 1985 and 1989 while he was a student in the Department of Archaeology and Anthropology in the institution’s Faculty of Arts.
The Ibadan-born journalist has worked at Fame Magazine, Ovation Magazine, Thisday Newspaper, Eko FM Radio, Sketch and Nigerian Tribune Newspapers before he floated Parrot Xtra Magazine and PMParrot.com
The list of other awardees included the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Idowu Olayinka; Prof. L.A Akinbile, Prof. Dipo Otolorin, Prof. Soji Adejumo, Dr. Gbolahan Ogunsanya, Dr. A.O Afolabi, Hon. Olasupo Abiodun, Mr. Ola Oresanya and Mr. Ademola Egbeleke.
