No fewer than 10 persons including children have been killed when suspected herdsmen attacked Te’egbe village,Miango District, in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State in the early hours of Friday.
Several persons also sustained injuries in the attack while many houses and grains were also burnt in te’egbe village of Miango District in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
National Publicity Secretary of Irigwe Development Association, Davison Malison, who confirmed the incident in a statement, said that apart from the 10 bodies recovered, some people are still missing.
“They invaded the community and set houses ablaze, killing and maiming residents in the process of the attack,” he said.
Malison added that the marauders have continued to unleash terror on the people of Irigwe Chiefdom with the killing of two persons during an ambush penultimate week.
Meanwhile, the state governor, Simon Lalong, has condemned the attack on the village, describing it as the handiwork of criminals that are bent on creating fear, pain and sorrow among the people with a view to destabilising the state and making fortune from their criminality as well as rupturing the substantial peace attained.
Lalong, in the statement signed by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Simon Makut, said security agencies have been directed to deploy personnel and everything at their disposal to arrest those who carried out the attack.
