The senator representing Ondo South, Jimoh Ibrahim, has said the governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held on April 20 was a “mega fraud.”
Ibrahim contested the election with 15 other aspirants, but lost out to Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Aiyedatiwa is completing the second four-year-term of Rotimi Akeredolu, the former governor, who died in December 2023.
Many aspirants have faulted the exercise conducted by Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo.
Addressing a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday, Ibrahim said he could not vote during the election because there was no polling unit close to his residence.
He added that some party officials showed up after he complained to the APC national chairman, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje.
The senator said he has approached the court to seek an order for a fresh primary.
“Two clear prayers are being sought in the court as far as the mega fraud called the Ondo APC gubernatorial primary election is concerned.
“The two prayers are one, that the sham carried out on Saturday, April 20th, 2024, should be cancelled for a fresh one to be conducted, and two, for the delisting of APC from ballot in the November 2024 gubernatorial election in Ondo State,” he said.
