The chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Philip Aivoji, who was abducted by some yet-to-identified gunmen along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway last Thursday has regained his freedom.
Aivoji was released four days after he was abducted.
Aivoji and some other party chieftains were abducted near Bamboo bush, in Isara Remo, inward Lagos, along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway while returning from the party’s Stakeholders’ Zonal Caucus meeting convened by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, which was held in Ibadan, on Thursday.
His release was disclosed by the Lagos State Publicity Secretary, Hakeem Amode, in a short statement titled, ‘Lagos State PDP Chairman released by the kidnappers,’ issued in the early hours of Monday.
“Hon Philip Olabode Aivoji, the Lagos State PDP Chairman is free at last after 4 days in the kidnappers’ den.
“We use this opportunity to appreciate your prayers most importantly because God’s mercies was visible all the way.
“Thank you all for your concerns and prayers,” Amode said.
It could not be ascertained as of the time of filing the his report if a ransom was paid to secure Aivoji’s release.
