Oyo State governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, as well as the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Oladunni Oyewunmi Ajagunbade III, has approved the appointment of a new traditional ruler for the town of Oko in Surulere Local Government Area of the state.
The new Oloko of Oko is Oba Olagoke Solomon Akinola Oyeyode III.
A letter signed by the Director, Chieftaincy Matters, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy matters, Z.O Jayeola, conveyed news of the appointment to Prince Akinola Olagoke Solomon, of Oyeyode Ruling House.
Felicitating with the people, the Oloko-in-Council expressed gratitude to the Oyo State government, the local government administration as well as the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Oladunni Oyewunmi Ajagunbade III.
In a statement issued at the weekend, the Oloko-in-Council said: “We wish to thank the state government under Senator Abiola Ajimobi for facilitiating a rancour-free process in the appointment. We also thank te Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Jimoh Oladunni Oyewunmi Ajagunbade III for his fatherly approval through the powers of prescribed authority over chieftaincies in Ogbomosoland and areas traditionally associated with Ogbomoso.
“As we all look forward to the formal coronation of HRM ỌBA Olagoke Solomon Akinola Oyeyode III as the new Oloko of Oko, we assure the people of Oko of a peaceful and prosperous reign during which unprecedented development & unlimited progress shall be the lot of the town”.
“We also seek the cooperation of all sons & daughters of Oko, both home and abroad.
