Ahead of the March 18 governorship election, members of the Association of Professional Traditional Wedding Coordinators of Nigeria (APTWECON), widely known as Alaga Iduro/ Ijoko, have pledged their unalloyed support for for the re-election of Engr Seyi Makinde as Oyo State governor.
According to the association, Makinde deserves a second-term following his sterling performance in the last four years.
The group, which has about 3000 members across the 33 local government areas of Oyo State, stated this during a courtesy to the governor at the state secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, Oyo State.
Members of the association, accompanied by their patron, Chief Bolaji Ayorinde (SAN), OFR, said the visit was in appreciation of what the governor has done in the last four years.
They told the governor that the purpose of their visit was to show appreciation for the way the state has been governed and to assure the governor of their maximum support in the forthcoming election.
They stated that Makinde should be returned as governor because of his achievements in the last four years, adding that the governor is the best option among the contestants.
“We pledge our support and unalloyed loyalty for his re-election. Governor Makinde is kindhearted and everybody’s lover; the governor is our own GSM,” they said.
According to the association, the governor deserves a second term for his innovative developments in the state, especially for investing in developmental projects across the state.
‘’He has moved around the state, he knows the people and the people know him. He is a man that treasures his words and his promises are sacred to him. He is going to actualise all his campaign promises. With Engr Makinde as governor, Oyo State will be in good hands,” they said
They noted that the PDP flag bearer possesses the sterling qualities and competence to lift Oyo state to hitherto unattained heights of excellence in every facet of endeavour.
The association urged the electorate to ensure that Makinde does not only win, but with a spectacular landslide that will serve as a clear message to opposition parties that they are absolutely unwanted in the state.
It also urged people, irrespective of their political affiliations and tribes to come together and return Makinde as governor, adding that he is a tested and trusted leader who would move the state to greater heights of growth and development.
Responding, Makinde promised to do all within his capacity to take Oyo State to greater heights.
He described the association as “an umbrella body of highly skilled, talented and cultural inclined members who deploy these to adding glamour to wedding procession at home and diaspora in tandem with promoting Yoruba cultural values and ethos.”
