Akinwande Soji-Ojo
Former deputy governor of Ondo State, Agboola Ajayi, has won the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary election.
Ajayi polled 264 votes to defeat his closest challenger and former member of the House of Representatives, Kolade Akinjo, who got 157 votes.
A total of 627 delegates from the 18 local government areas in the state participated in the indirect primary held at the International Culture and Events Centre (The Dome), Akure.
Ajayi was late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s deputy from 2017 to 2021.
He contested the 2020 governorship election on the platform of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) after falling out with Akeredolu and his subsequent defection from APC.
