Former Governor of Oyo State, Adebayo Alao-Akala, has joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
A reliable source confirmed to Newspeakonline that the former governor held a final meeting with his followers in Ibadan Tuesday evening during which they all agreed to move to the APC with him.
Akala, who dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) early this year, was the governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2015 governorship election in the state.
He was among the four political heavyweights who slugged it out with Governor Abiola Ajimobi in the April polls. Others were former Governor Rashidi Ladoja (Accord Party), Senator Teslim Folarin (PDP) and Engr. Seyi Makinde (SDP).
Akala also lost to Ajimobi in 2011 when both were in PDP and Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) respectively.
Akala’s decision to join the APC may not come as a surprise to those who have noticed his sudden closeness to Governor Ajimobi as he has recently been attending many social events with the governor and APC members.
