Oyo State Government has declared Wednesday, July 19, as public holiday to commemorate this year’s Hijrah 1445.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi, on Tuesday.
Wednesday is the first day of Muharram 1445AH, the beginning of Islamic New Year.
According to Ogunwuyi, Governor Seyi Makinde congratulated Muslim faithful on the commencement of the New Year and urged them to use the occasion to pray for the peace, unity and sustainability of the state in particular and the country in general.
