The Osi Olubadan of Ibadanland, Senator Rashidi Ladoja has slammed the conferment of obaship titles on High Chiefs and Baales by Governor Abiola Ajimobi as illegal.
In line with the Olubadan chieftaincy law review carried out by the governor, 30 new obas have been created in Ibadan.
The High Chiefs will be referred to as “His Royal Majesty” while the Baales are to be refered as “His Royal Highness”

Ladoja was one of the High Chiefs elevated to the status of Oba but he told Newspeakonline that he was not interested in the process because “it is illegal”.
His words: “I’m sure you are aware that I am in court to prove that the government does not have the right to interfere in the Olubadan chieftaincy matter. And I am sure government has been served court processes because the Attorney General (AG) was in court for hearing on Monday. The AG said nothing would be done. So, I’m not interested in anything they are doing because it is illegal. Ibadan chieftaincy issue is a native, local law, not a state law. So, it is the business of Ibadan people.”
