Members of the Iyalode council in the Ibadan traditional chieftaincy system, on Wednesday, paid a courtesy visit to the Olubadan designate, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, at his Alalubosa residence, following his nomination last Friday by the kingmakers.
The visit, according to the delegation led by Otun Iyalode, Chief (Mrs) Amudalat Adekunle, was to pay their respects and congratulate the Olubadan designate on his nomination.
“Members of the Iyalode line are here to pay our respects and congratulate Kaabiyesi on his nomination. We also offer our thanksgiving to God and express our best wishes for his good health and long life as he prepares to ascend the throne of his forefathers,” she said.
Other members on the nine-member entourage are Chief (Mrs) Taye Soyege, Balogun Iyalode; Chief (Mrs) Yewande Durosaro, Osi Iyalode; Chief (Mrs) Priscilla Omowale-Kuye, Asipa Iyalode; Chief (Mrs ) Kudirat Adeleke, Ekerin Iyalode; Chief (Mrs) Rashidat Olarenwaju Otiti, Agbaakin Iyalode; Chief (Mrs) Yetunde Remilekun Adegoke, Oota Iyalode; Chief (Mrs ) Tawakalitu Sharafadeen-Alli, Aregbe Omo Iyalode; Chief (Mrs) Monsurat Alaga, Ajia Iyalode and Chief (Mrs) Onibiyo Scott, Jagun Iyalode.
Speaking on behalf of the Olubadan designate and the Olakulehin family, Prince Olasunmbo Owolabi, appreciated the leader and members of the Iyalode line for the thoughtfulness of their visit, noting that they are the first set of organised visitors to the Olubadan designate post nomination.
Meanwhile, the Oyo State Government has confirmed receipt of the nomination of Oba Olakulehin as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadan as presented by kingmakers.
