High Chiefs, Mogajis, Baales, and Jagun Olubadan of Ibadan land, Engr Dotun Sanusi, have commended the wife of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mrs Elizabeth Egbetokun, for visiting Olubadan-elect, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.
They said the visit was significant because it was the first delegation from the Federal Government to Oba Olakulehin.
Mrs Egbetokun, who is the National President, Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), accompanied by wives of other top police officers, had on Tuesday May, 21 paid courtesy visit to the Oba Olakulehin at his Alalubosa GRA residence.
Some of the High Chiefs who recieved Mrs Egbetokun at the residence of the Olubadan-elect before she was ushered in to meet Oba Olakulehin members of the Olubadan-in-Council include Osi Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Eddy Oyewole; Osi Balogun of Ibadan land, Oba Lateef Adebimpe; Ashipa Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Kola Adegbola; President of Association of Ibadan Mogajis, Mogaji Asimiyu Ariori, and President of Baales in Ibadan land, Baale F.D. Ige among others.
A statement jointly signed by Ariori and Coordinator, Ibadan Compound Peace Initiative (ICPI), Mogaji Nurudeen Akinade, said the visit of a delegation of women to Olubadan-elect was an harbinger of peace and progress in Ibadan land.
The Jagun Olubadan, Sanusi, who was represented by Mogaji Nurudeen Akinade, lauded Mrs Egbetokun, saying efforts of women towards bringing peace and developement to the society can not be overemphasised.
While welcoming the delegation on behalf of the Olubadan-elect, Osi Balogun of Ibadan land, Oba Adebimpe thanked the women for the visit and for their support to the course of women emancipation in the country.
He vowed to give priority to gender equality and respect for women irrespective of their tribe, political or religious status.
Earlier in her address, Mrs Egbetokun called for stakeholders collaboration to empower young women in agriculture, in order to solve the issue of food insecurity in the Clcountry
Highlight of the event was presentation of gifts to Mrs Egbetokun by High Chiefs, Mogajis and Baales.
