Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) under the aegis of Coaliton of Pro-Democracy Groups for a Better Nigeria, have congratulated the Olubadan-elect, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, on the occasion of his forthcoming coronation ceremony.
A statement by the coalition’s National Coordinator, Comrade Awa Bamiji, said becoming Olubadan is by sheer destiny and thanked “Olodumare” that made it possible for Oba Olakulehin.
“The God Almighty that made this day possible for this illustrious son of Ibadan land, seasoned administrator, grassroot mobiliser and elderstatesman to reach this historic stage of breakthrough in his lifetime. We, therefore, pray that Ibadan land and indeed, Yoruba land, which Ibadan had served as political headquarters, will witness peaceful environment, uncommon progress and rapid development during his reign as 43rd Olubadan of Ibadan land.
While wishing Kabiyesi sound health, long life and prosperity, we are also pledging our unfliching support to your kingdom,” he said.
The CSOs also congratulated the 555 eminent personalities that were appointed as pro chancellors and members of the governing councils of various tertiary Institutions across the country.
According to the statement, the group specifically congratulated Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba Abdulrasheed Olabomi; legal luminary, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN); Prof Attahiru Jega; former Speakers of Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mojeed Alabi and Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye; Barr Zainab Buba Marwa; Yusuf Alli; Dr Saka Layoonu; Hons Bosun Oyintiloye, Jibola Famurewa, Nike Omoworare, Rotimi Makinde, Ade Adetimehin; foremost Professor of History, Siyan Oyeweso; Hon Sunday Akere, Ayo Afolabi, Hon Tunde Olatunji and host of others.
“With their track records of accomplishments, we don’t have any iota of fear or doubt on their ability to deliver on the mandate given to them,” it said.
In the same vein, Awa congratulated Senator Sarafadeen Abiodun Alli; former Commissioner for Transportation in Lagos State, Comrade Kayode Opeifa; a foundation member and first national publicity secretary of CDHR Shina Loremikan and Hon Shina Alabi on the occasion of their birthday anniversaries.
“Today, we celebrate your numerous achievements, various days of birth and brighter future ahead of you all.
“Our very first meetings have always been memorable and our subsequent ones were highly eventful. To all our wonderful brothers and democracy soldiers in Nigeria, we say many happy returns!” Awa said.
Meanwhile, the coalition has described the death of Olojudo Alayemore of Ido Osun, in Osun State, Oba Adeen Aderemi Adedapo Saporoyo I, has painful and shocking.
Oba Adedapo, who passed on at the age of 77, was described as a promoter of culture and tradition, not only in Yoruba land or Nigeria, but on the African continent.
“He was our mentor for decades. He still performed same role during our last meeting at University of Ibadan (UI), about 10 days to his passing.
“Until his death, our later teacher, mentor and kabiyesi was the only royal father in Nigeria with full continental rank within Africa. He was Secretary, Yoruba Traditional Council; Secretary, Board of Trustees (BoT), National Traditional Council of Nigeria, with Sultan of Sokoto and Ooni of Ife as Co-Chairmen, and Convener, African Traditional Council.
“May his soul rest in peace,” the statement added.
