Victor Jumbo has been elected as new factional Speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly .
Jombo is among the four lawmakers loyal to the state governor, Siminalayi Fubara, since the political crisis rocking the state started.
The former factional Speaker, Edison Ehie, who was the leader of the pro-Fubara lawmakers, resigned membership of the assembly after President Bola Tinubu’s intervention to broker peace in the feud between Fubara and his estranged political godfather, Nyesom Wike.
Ehie was later appointed Chief of Staff, Rivers State Government House, by Fubara.
Jumbo is the member representing Bonny Constituency in the state House of Assembly.
He was elected by two members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
Sokari Goodbody also emerged as the Majority Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
Jumbo’s emergence came barely 48 hours after Fubara declared that the 27 members of the assembly, who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), as non-existent.
