The lawmaker representing Plateau North Senatorial District, Simon Mwadkon, has emerged as Senate Minority Leader.
Mwadkon, a first term Senator, was announced as minority leader by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, at Tuesday’s plenary.
According to Akpabio, Mwadkon was nominated by the lawmakers belonging to the minority parties in the senate.
The Plateau lawmaker’s emergence ended the ambition of immediate past governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, who is also the preferred candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, for the position.
Akpabio also announced the lawmaker representing Osun West Senatorial District, Oyewumi Olalere, as Deputy Minority
Leader.
Darlington Nwokocha and Rufai Hanga representing Abia Central and Kano Central Senatorial Districts were named Minority Whip and Deputy Minority Whip respectively.
