The Chairman, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Professor Adeolu Akande, has condemned the unfortunate incident that occurred at Iwo Road, Ibadan, on Wednesday, which claimed the lives of two people.
Akande who expressed his concerns on the frequent breakdown of law and order in parts of the state, called on Governor Seyi Makinde to rise above his personal affinity with some of the individuals being fingered in the crisis to get to the root of the matter.
The Professor of Political Science, who is also a gubernatorial aspirant of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in Oyo State, advised Makinde to act swiftly in curtailing such occurences in the state.
“The Governor needs to be firm in maintaining law and order. His body language is encouraging hooliganism and brigandage. When people know that the Governor is aversed to thuggery, they will be law abiding” he added.
While commiserating with the families of those who lost their loved ones, Akande urged the Governor to investigate the matter with a view to bringing the perpetrators to book.
