Manchester United’s shot stopper, David De Gea, has been ruled out of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.
De Gea’s name was omitted from Spain’s provisional 55-man list released by Coach Luis Enrique.
Enrique released the names of five players for each position, out of which three persons per position will make the final list. The three goalkeepers expected to fly to Qatar are Athletic Bilbao’s Unai Simon, Brighton’s Robert Sanchez and Brentford’s David Raya.
Meanwhile, Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga and Getafe’s David Soria have been chosen as back-ups in case of injuries or illnesses prior to the tournament.
The deadline for submission of the final squad of the 32 countries participating in the tournament is Monday, November 14, 2022.
