Youths in Oluyole Local Government Area of Oyo State, under the aegis of Oluyole United for Real Growth, on Wednesday commended the state governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi for paving way for the conduct of local government elections in the state.
The Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission last week announced February 11, 2017, as the date for the election.
The setting up of the electoral board followed smooth resolution of all legal and political encumbrances earlier hindering conduct of the election since he assumed office in May, 2011.
In a statement issued yesterday, youths and party faithful in Oluyole Local Government said the election would accelerate development at the grassroots across the state.
The youths also expressed their support for one of the aspirants, Mr Kehinde Olaosebikan, who is a former chairman of the local government.
With the council election now fixed for the 11th of February next year, the group said Ajimobi has confirmed that he is not just a quintessential democrat but a profound leader with genuine interest for grassroots development.
As the state electoral commission sets to give the full details for the election, the group called on all well-meaning indigenes of the state to show interest in the chairmanship and councillorship election for real growth in all the local government areas of the state.
It noted that the present situation in the country required every part and nucleus of the state to field their best in the area of leadership in order to get the best for the wards, local governments and state generally.
