A 21-year old final year student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba (AAUA), Ondo State, Olubodun Sanni, has been arrested over the alleged murder of another student, Adekunle Adebisi Ifeoluwa.
Adekunle, who was a 300 Level student in the Department of Economics, was found dead on February 2, 2024 inside the room she rented off campus.
Sanni was alleged to have stabbed Adekunle to death and stole her iPhone XR.
The Commissioner of Police (CP) in Ondo State, Abayomi Oladipo, who paraded Sanni along with other suspsects on Tuesday, said police discovered that the deceased phone was missing after the murder.
Oladipo stated that the police through the use of modern technology traced the phone to 21-year-old Sanni, who is a neighbour to the deceased.
“The recovered phone led to further questioning of the suspect who gave details of what happened in his confessional statement,” the CP said.
He added that Sanni would be charged to court at the end of ongoing investigations.
Oladipo also paraded one Umar Ibrahim, who killed his friend, Mohammadu Adamu.
Umar allegedly killed Adamu while they were on their way to Ogali, in Kogi State.
Speaking to newsmen, Umar said he killed Adamu after he discovered that he (Adamu) and one Basiru had planned to kidnap and kill him.
