Oyo State Government has disclosed that it is ready to strengthen collaboration with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in tackling illegal mining in the state.
The Director General, Oyo State Mineral Development Agency, Hon. Abiodun Oni, disclosed this in Ibadan during a visit to the State Commandant of the NSCDC, Mr. Michael Adaralewa.
Oni said NSCDC is a strategic partner in the fight against illegal mining in the state, adding that the visit was geared towards putting an end to stealing and irregularities in the mining sector.
He stressed that the state government will not allow illegal act of stealing and irregularities going on in the mining sector by some individuals.
The Director General also explained that the state government is ready to sanitise the state mining sector through the Mining Act and relevant Laws.
Oni, who appreciated the state command of the NSCDC for their support during the previous enforcement exercise in the mining sector urged the command to put more efforts in their support.
Speaking, the NSCDC Commandant, Adaralewa appreciated the state government for its support in the provision of security cars, vans, gadgets among others.
He urged the state government to dedicate more security equipment such as security cars, equipment and gadgets among others for the fight against the illegal mining.
