The Oyo State chapter of National Association of Pepper Sellers, has honoured the Commissioner of Police in the state, Adebola Hamzat.
The police boss was honoured for his exceptional leadership and giant strides towards ensuring security of lives and property of residents of the state.
The event, which took place at Oja’ba, Ibadan, had in attendance Police Management Team, President of Ibadan Mogajis, Mogaji Asimiyu Ariori; Coordinator, Ibadan Compound Peace Initiative (ICPI), Mogaji Nurudeen Akinade; and representative of Engr. Dotun Sanusi, the Jagun Olubadan of Ibadan land, among others.
Speaking, the leader of the association in the state, Alhaja Fausat Akeeem -Abada, said the presence of Hamzat was historical.
She thanked the police boss for counting them worthy of such a honour.
In his contributions, President of Ibadan Mogajis, Ariori, thanked Hazmat for the visit, adding that the police boss remained the most celebrated in the history of the state.
He stated that Hamzat was given an award in the last police games hosted by the state in the presence of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), adding that no CP in the state has ever received such recognition.
Hamzat was presented with a golden award, and also given several bags of pepper and other prestigious gifts.
The Commissioner of Police had earlier been commended by the Olubadan-elect, Olubadan-in-Council, Ibadan Obas, Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), Mogajis, Ibadan Compound Peace Initiatives (ICPI), Baales for his doggedness and commitment in ridding Ibadan land and Oyo State of criminals.
In his remarks, Hamzat assured the association that any form of harassment against members of the association would be checked.
He urged the pepper sellers to continue doing their business legally and avoid anything that could tarnish the image of the association.
Mogaji Ariori, who delivered Sanusi’s message, commended the association for recognising the efforts of the police boss.
He added that Ibadan and Oyo State in general are solidly behind Hamzat, and assured him of the continued support of residents towards curbing insecurity in the state.
