Oyo State Health Insurance Agency (OYSHIA) has enjoined Nigerians to embrace health insurance amid the high cost of medication in the country.
Recall that the Guardian Newspaper had in a special report published on Thursday listed four critical areas Nigerians are experiencing hardship when accessing healthcare services.
It noted that Nigerians are facing difficulty because have to pay before accessing care; there is 150% increase in cost of accessing care; Nigerians are using unsafe alternative such as herbal concoction as they opt for cheaper care; over 90% Nigerians still have no health insurance.
Speaking on a radio station in Ibadan on Saturday, OYSHIA’s Director of Marketing, Mr Stephen Dauda said health insurance is the best way to go in a situation like this.
“We have been saying over the years that health insurance is the way to go.
“Once you buy the policy, for one year, the inflation will not affect you and when it comes to health issues. You will be less concerned about prices of drugs going up.
“Health Insurance is the way to go, people should subscribe to it,” he said.
