Sen. Sharafadeen Alli, representing Oyo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of his political ally and APC Chieftain in Ibarapa Central Local Government, Chief Rasaq Olatunde, the Alafua of Igboora.
Olatunde, popularly known as O’Gadabu, passed away on Sunday, November 5 in his hometown, Igboora.
In a statement made available to newsmen by his Special Adviser on Media, Akeem Abas, on Thursday, Alli said Olatunde, who until his demise was the Alafua of Igboora, will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
The lawmaker said the news of Olatunde’s demise has left him and his entire team devastated, as they mourn the loss of a dear friend and partner.
He described the late Alafua as a dedicated and passionate leader, who profoundly impacted the lives of the people.
“As a committed member of the APC, Olatunde contributed immensely to the growth and success of the party at the grassroots level.
“His deep-rooted connection with the people and his unwavering support for my political aspirations will be dearly missed,” he said.
Alli said that Olatunde’s demise has created a huge vacuum in the political landscape of Ibarapa Central Local Government.
He expressed condolences to the bereaved family, urging them to take solace in the fact that Olatunde lived a fulfilled life.
“I am appealing to APC members Ibarapa Central Local Government to remain united during this difficult time.
“They should reflect on the late Olatunde’s legacy and continue to strive for the progress as well as development of their community,” he said.
The lawmaker, who prayed that Almighty Allah grant the family, APC, political associates and friends of the deceased the fortitude to bear the huge loss, also prayed that Almighty Allah will forgive his shortcomings and grant his soul Al-Jannat Firdaos.
