Stakeholders in Ibadan land have warned the Aare Musulumi of Yoruba land, Edo & Delta States, Alhaji Dauda Makanjuola, aka De Damak, not to compromise the process that produced Alhaja Saratu Konibaje as the Iyaloja General of Oyo State.
There were reports that the revered Muslim leader took a factional Iyaloja General of Oyo State, Princess Abeo Nurudeen, to residence of former governor of Oyo State, Alh Rashidi Ladoja for Iftar.
He was said to have introduced Nurudeen as the authentic Iyaloja General of Oyo State, and asked her to begg the Babaloja of Oyo State, Alhaji Yekini Abass, populalrly known as Y.K. Abass, who was also at the Iftar.
Abass, who was said to be totally embarrassed by the developement, told Ladoja that Alhaja Sarat Aduke Konibaje was selected by the due process as Iyaloja General of Oyo State.
However, a statement issued on Wednesday by Abass, Alhaja Iyadunni and the Coordinator, Ibadan Compound Peace Initiative (ICPI), Mogaji Nurudeen Akinade urged Akinola to desist from actions that could cause confusion in the state.
The stakeholders vowed that any plan to compromise the selection process that produced Konibaje will not materialise, expressing disappointment over the conduct of Akinola, who is also the Aare of Ibadan land.
According to them, Ibadan people will confront anybody that is against due process.
They wondered why Akinola will take such position despite being at the meeting held at Ibadan House, Oke Aremo, where the decision to follow due process was taken.
“Compromising the due process that produced Saratu Konibaje constitute a great danger to activities of market men and women across the state,” the statement said..
It recalled that some elders and leaders in Ibadan land opted for due process in resolving the crisis over the position of Iyaloja General of Oyo State.
The elders include former President-General, Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) Chief Bayo Oyero; Aare Dauda Akinola; Babaloja of Oyo State, Alhaji Y. K Abass; Alhaja Iyadunni, and Jagun Olubadan of Ibadan land, Engr. Dotun Sanusi.
Others are CCII President-General, Barr. Niyi Ajewole; Coordinator, Ibadan Compound Peace Initiative (ICPI) and the former Ag. Secretary General CCII, Mogaji Nurudeen Akinade; and Mogaji Abass Oloko among others.
They noted that due process led to emergence of Governor Seyi Makinde, adding thatthe process guides the operational activities of government.
The stakeholders urge Makinde not to allow anyone mislead him on the issue of Iyaloja General of Oyo State.
