The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, as the winner of Saturday’s presidential election in Jigawa State.
Announcing the result of the presidential election, Returning Officer in the state, Professor Arma Ya’u Hamisu Bichi of Federal University, Dutsin Ma, said the election was peaceful.
Bichi said the number of Registered Voters in the state were 2,3421,441 while 962,670 voters were accredited.
He said the total votes cast were 954,805 while the valid votes stand at 920,531. A total of 34,274 votes were rejected.
The collation officer disclosed that Tinubu polled 421,390 votes to defeat Atiku Abubakar of PDP, who polled 386,587 votes. Peter Obi of Labour Party garnered 1,889 votes while Rabiu Kwankwaso of NNPP had 98,234 votes.
Meanwhile the the ruling APC has won two senatoria seats and eight House of Representatives seats in Jigawa State.
The opposition PDP won one senatorial seats and two House of Representatives seats. Also, the NNPP won one House of Representatives seat in the state.
