No fewer than 60 traditional rulers from across Yoruba land under the aegis of Yoruba Obas Forum are currently meeting in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The meeting, it was learnt, is the first Annual General Meeting of the Forum since it was established in 2019.
Timi of Ede, Oba Nurudeen Lawal, is the chairman of the meeting.
Welcoming the monarchs, the Interim President of the Forum and Molokun of Atijere Kingdom, Oba Samuel Adeoye, said the gathering was aimed at reviewing developments that occurred since the last meeting among others.
The monarch, who noted that the bastardisation of Yoruba tradition, customs and culture is alarming, said it required team work and commitment to checkmate the trend, calling on all traditional rulers to take the lead.
He added that the activities of some sons and daughters as well as some royal fathers are inimical to achieving some objectives, adding that something tangible must be done before it is too late.
The Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Lekan Balogun, was represented at the event by the Asiwaju Olubadan, Chief Ademola Adelade.
A communique is expected at the end of the meeting.
