The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State has suspended some top members of the party for alleged anti-party activities. They include Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory Oloye Jumoke Akinjide, Senator Ayoade Adeseun and a former factional chairman, Alhaji Kunmi Mustafa.
Also suspended was a PDP leader in Ogbomoso, Chief Saka Balogun, a former House of Representatives member, Dr. Maroof Akinwande and a host of others.
They were accused of turning their backs on the PDP candidate, Teslim Folarin during the April 11 governorship election and supporting Rashidi Ladoja’s Accord Party or Labour Party’s Adebayo Alao-Akala.
Their suspension was said to have been unilaterally authorised by the state leader, Alhaji Yekini Adeojo.
The PDP performed woefully in the state during the general elections, winning no seat in the senatorial districts and just one in the House of Representatives ( a seat won by Segun Odebunmi in Surulere/Ogo-Oluwa constituency,
It also lost the 32-member House of Assembly to the ruling All Progressives Congress (18), Accord’s eight and LP’s six.
