The staff unions of Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa, Oyo State, have expressed shock over the demise of the institution’s Governing Council Chairman, Professor Abiodun Ojo, who died on Tuesday.
The unions include Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP), Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnic (SSANIP) and Non Academic Staff Union (NASU).
In a statement jointly signed by the ASUP chairman, Engr Adeboje Taiwo Bode; SSANIP chairman, Mr Titiloye Joseph; and NASU chairman, Mr Jayeola Titus, the unions described Ojo’s death as “agonizingly painful.”
“It took us a while to come to terms with the reality of your unexpected demise, hence, this is coming now. Your death is agonizingly painful.
“It’s quite unfortunate we have to use past tense to qualify you. You were a bridge builder and a peace maker. Your unwavering dedication and visionary leadership in the institution is exemplary.
“Your passing to be with the triumphant saints leaves a void that will be felt by the unions who had the privilege of working directly with you.
“We will always remember your good deeds in fostering harmony in the Polytechnic community. God shall give us and the family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” the statement read.
