Many Nigerians believe actors and actresses do not have time for family due to their busy schedule and the nature of their profession.
Also, some people believe they do not always want to settle down and have a home because it will not allow them the opportunity to engage in what they love and want. These made people see them as being promiscuous.
However, many of the actors and actresses have found a way to balance family with profession.
In fact, some have married their colleagues in the entertainment industry, and are enjoying their marriages.
Here are 12 couples who are doing well in the Nigerian movie industry.
1. Olu Jacobs and Joke Silva
Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs, known professionally as Olu Jacobs, is a Nigerian actor and film executive. He was born in July 1942.
Jacobs has been married to Nollywood actress, Joke Silva since 1989. They have two children, Olusoji and Olugbenga Jacobs.
2. Mide Funmi-Martins and Afeez Abiodun
Mide Funmi-Martins is an accomplished Nigerian actress, film producer, brand influencer, and philanthropist. She was born on April 12, 1979.
She is the daughter of late Nollywood actress, Funmi Martins, who died of a heart attack in 2002.
Mide Martins is married to Afeez Abiodun, a movie producer, director and an actor.
In 2016, Mide Martins reportedly called ended her marriage to her husband. But on April 22, 2016, the beautiful actress revealed on Instagram that they have settled their differences and are back together.
Martins is a mother of two beautiful daughters, Anuoluwapo and Omotola
3. Fausat Balogun and Rafiu Balogun
Fausat Balogun, popularly known as Madam Saje, is a Nigerian actress. She was born on February 13, 1959, and hails from Oke Ode, Ifelodun Local Government Area, Kwara State.
Fausat Balogun is known for her motherly roles in most Yoruba movies and has starred in many movies.
She is married to her boss, who is also an actor, Rafiu Balogun. Her eldest son, Azeez Balogun, is a Nollywood movie writer, producer and director and her youngest daughter, Bintu is an actress.
4. Adebimpe Oyebade and Lateef Adedemeji
Adebimpe Oyebade, better known as Mo Bimpe, is a Nigerian actress. She won the City People Entertainment Awards for Best New Actress in 2018. The actress hails from Ijero Ekiti.
The Nollywood stars, tied the nuptial knot in December 2021.
5. Adesua Etomi-Wellington and Olubankole Wellington
Adesua Etomi-Wellington is a Nigerian actress. She got married to R & B singer and actor, Olubankole Welliggton, aka Banky W on November 19, 2017.
They welcomed their first child, Hazaiah, in January 2021.
6. Moji Afolayan and Rasaq Olayiwola
Moji Afolayan is a Nigerian actress, filmmaker, producer, and director. She was born on February 5, 1968.
Afolayan hails from Agbamu, a town in Irepodun Local Government area of Kwara State, but grew up in Lagos State.
She is the first daughter of the late veteran actor and producer, Adeyemi Afolayan, aka Ade Love. Moji is the of popular movie producer, Kunle Afolayan, and Nollywood actor, Gabriel Afolayan.
Moji is married to Rasaq Olayiwola, a Nigerian actor popularly known as Ojopagogo.
7. Peju Ogunmola and Sunday Omobolanle
Peju Ogunmola is a Yoruba film actress. Her father was the veteran actor, Kola Ogunmola.
She is married to Sunday Omobolanle, better known as Papiluwe, a Nigerian comic actor, playwright, director, and producer. Peju is the stepmother to Sunkanmi Omobolanle, who is also an actor.
8. Toyin Abraham-Ajeyemi and Kolawole Ajeyemi
Popular actress, Toyin Abraham, was born in Auchi, Edo State. She spent her early life in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
In 2013, Abraham got married to Adeniyi Johnson, a Nollywood actor. However, the marriage hit the rock in 2016.
In July 2019, she had a traditional engagement with another actor, Kolawole Ajeyemi, and they welcomed their first child in August 2019.
9. Oluwaseyi Edun and Adeniyi Johnson
Adeniyi Johnson is a famous actor in the Yoruba movie industry.
Johnson was formerly married to fellow actress, Toyin Abraham. They got married in 2013. Unfortunately, the marriage lasted only three years before their separation.
The two divorced after allegations of infidelity on both sides.
After they went their separate ways, Johnson got married to another actress, Oluseyi “Shai” Edun.
10. Bimbo Ogunnowo and Okiki Afolayan
Bimbo Ogunnowo-Afolayan is an actress and movie producer.
She joined the Yoruba movie industry in 2009 when she was introduced into a theater group by popular actor, Femi Branch. She came to limelight and earned her spotlight in the industry after producing her movie, titled ‘Ifejafunmi’.
Bimbo got married to a movie producer, Okiki Afolayan in October 2018.
The actress recently welcomed a baby girl with her husband, Okiki Afolayan, in the United States.
11. Bukola Awoyemi and Damola Adetunji
Bukola Awoyemi born is a famous Nigerian actress, filmmaker and brand influencer. She was born and raised in Ilorin, Kwara State.
She is happily married to popular Yoruba actor, Damola Olatunji (De-Emperor). They got married in 2013 after they met at a movie location.
Their marriage is blessed with beautiful twin children, David and Deborah.
12. Esther Kalejaiye and Afeez Eniola
Esther Kalejaiye is a Nigerian actress who normally features in Yoruba movies.
She is married to fellow actor Eniola Afeez. The couple have two wonderful children Kanyinsola Eniola and Dotun Eniola.
