Kogi West Senatorial District can become the food basket of the nation if the farmers in the area are empowered. Princess Olayemi Joledo-Ayomah, who expressed this opinion, stated further that agricultural revival should be a major programme in the district.
Princess Joledo-Ayomah, who is aspiring to represent the Kogi West in the National Assembly, agriculture is one of her major programmes.
While declaring her intention for run in 2019, the aspirant stated that apart from agricultural revival, she would also focus on social justice and care for the elderly.
She said: “Being the first woman to aspire to the upper chambers of the National Assembly from the zone, I have the following as my cardinal points namely Agricultural revival for sustainable development, qualitative representation, social justice and care for the elderly. With these in mind, life will be made more meaningful for my people and shall take our pride of place among our contemporary societies.
“Over the time, I have experienced the laudable ideas that will improve the lot of our people being sacrificed on the altar of greed, sentiment and political aggrandizement. This has brought the realization that representing the constituents of kogi West at the highest legislative house in the country would enhance my ability, capability and need to effect the positive difference our people so much desire “.
Joledo-Ayomah who styles herself as “the affirmative game changer ” said she was not intimidated by the presence of men in the race. According to her, “women understand what the society needs more than men and we are determined to work very hard to bring to our people dividends of democracy “.
