UTME: Why we allowed CBT centres to increase service charge- JAMB Registrar

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has revealed that  a total of 1,837,011 candidates were registered at the end of its 2022 registration exercise for both Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE).

This was contained in the examination body’s weekly bulletin.

FeedWell

The registration details of the candidates were captured  nationwide between February 19, and March 26.

With the applicants paying  N4,700 for registration, JAMB  generated a total sum of N8.6 billion.

Out of the sum, 776 computer-based test (CBT) centres that took part in the exercise will share an estimated N1.3 billion, at the rate of N700 per candidate registered by each of the centres.

JAMB also pledged support for the CBT centre owners over the sudden increase in the prices of diesel and the erratic power supply being experienced  nationwide.

The examination body noted that it recognised the plight of its partners and appealed for their understanding, adding that it would seek necessary approvals to grant them the necessary support as may be deemed appropriate.
