The campaign office of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State located at Ilesha Road, Akure has been set ablaze by hoodlums on Thursday.

It was gathered that trouble started when policemen tried to disrupt the protest of the youths in order to enforce the curfew order.

Also on Thursday, another set of hoodlums attacked the secretariat of the Okitipupa local government area of Ondo State and burnt it down.

At the secretariat, many valuable items were reportedly looted while some were vandalised on the premises of the council secretariat.

An eyewitness said: “The youths went haywire today attacking the police station in Okitipupa, on sighting them, the policemen took to heels and left the station. So, the guys set the station on fire. This came after they had attacked the prison and secretariat.”

Meanwhile, the Ondo State Police command has confirmed that no fewer than eight police divisions were razed by angry mob on Thursday.

The command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Tee-Leo Ikoro, who disclosed this said several police officers across the state sustained various degrees of injuries during the attack.

He listed some of the stations attacked to include the Police Officers Mess in Akure; two police divisions in Okitipupa; two divisions in Akure while others were razed in Ondo town and Ore in Odigbo local government area.

The Police spokesperson who disclosed that some hoodlums also visited the residences of some policemen and attacked them, however called for caution in the burning down of police divisions.

He warned protesters and hoodlums to refrain from attacking the police and their stations in pressing home their demands.
