A member of the Oyo State Security Network (aka Amotekun Corps) identifier as Ibrahim Ogundele, has been arrested for shooting a police constabulary in the thigh in Oyo town.
The incident happened at Sanga area of the ancient town on Saturday.
He shot Mr Fatai Yekini who is a Special Police Constabulary attached to Ojongbodu Police Station in the town. Ogundele works in Isale Oyo.
Yekini is said to be receiving treatment at the Oyo State General Hospital, Owode area of the town.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Mr. Olugbenga Fadeyi, said the incident happened when the police officers at Ojongbodu Division were responding to calls to dislodge some youths who were staging a carnival against warnings.
He said the Amotekun Corps personnel has been detained at the police station for further interrogation.
“Yes, this happened when the police personnel at Ojongbodu Division, Oyo were responding to calls to dislodge recalcitrant youths staging a carnival after several warnings that such should not be staged.
“The Amotekun personnel has since been arrested and currently being investigated at Ojongbodu Police Station.”
