One of the victims of the terror attack on St Francis Catholic Church, Owaluwa Street, Owo, Ondo State, is dead.
The Ondo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mrs Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, disclosed this on Tuesday while addressing newsmen in Akure, the state capital.
Giving an update on the incident, Ademola-Olateju said that one more death was recorded “as a result of the June 5 terror attack on St Francis Catholic Church,Owo.”
According to her, the number of deaths from the attack now stands at 41, while 17 persons are still hospitalised.
Ademola-Olateju reiterated the commitment of the state government to having a memorial site built in honour of all the victims.
Meanwhile, Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), has signed into law the first amendment to the Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun.
Akeredolu, who assented to the bill in his office, said that the new amendment became necessary in light of the heightened insecurity across the state.
He assured that the amended law would improve the security architecture of the state and help Amotekun Corps to perform better.
The governor appreciated the House of Assembly for the quick passage of the bill.
