APC vice chairman: Replacing Adamu with Ganduje will be ‘political suicide’

The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Vice Chairman (North West), Dr Salihu Luk man, has said he is not afraid of being expelled from the party.

Lukman had been calling APC National Chairman, Sen Abdullahi Adamu, and National Secretary, Sen Iyiola Omisore, for not following the party’s constitution in their handling of its affairs.

He had sued Adamu and Omisore over the non-disclosure of APC’s financial records, but was forced to withdraw the suit in the interest of peace.

Lukman had also criticised the handling of the process that was meant to produce leaders of the 10th national assembly.

In an open letter to Adamu and Omisore on Friday, Lukman said they were free to expel him from the party, noting that expulsion would not stop his bid to ensure that APC follows its rules.

“I can guarantee you; no amount of bullying will stop the campaign to return APC to constitutional order.

“By the way, you are free to expel me from APC, but you cannot expel me as a citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. APC is not private property. It is a public political organisation with rules, which must be respected. Sen. Adamu and Sen. Omisore can block organs of the APC from meeting to the extent that other leaders of the party are willing to permit.

“No one can block me, in any way, from discharging my right to engage the issues both as Nigerian and as a member of APC, expelled or not. For your information, I am currently working to document all these experiences, which I will publish, God willing, so that it contributes to the body of knowledge in the development of party politics in Nigeria.

“Whether you respect my right to hold membership of APC or not, I can proudly say that my publications will remain references for anyone who wishes to understudy the APC for the foreseeable future,” he said.
