The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State on Thursday welcomed a former governorship aspirant in the state, Dr Ismail Adewusi, back to the party.
Adewusi was received by the State Chairman, Chief Akin Oke, at the Oke-Ado, Ibadan headquarters of the party. Adewusi was accompanied by APC leaders from the three local government areas in Ibarapa land where Adewusi hails from
The former governorship aspirant left the APC for Accord party just before the 2015 general elections.
At the welcome back meeting, he recalled that he has always been a progressive, pointing out that he was a strong member of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) and other parties that evolved from it till date.
“We are fully back to APC now. At the local governments, we have reintegrated but we have to pay this visit to the State Executive to complete the reintegration”, he said at the welcome back meeting.
He commended the APC leadership for working hard to uphold democratic values, a choice he said has stabilized and grown the party, particularly since 2010.
In his remarks, the Oyo APC chairman, Chief Oke said the visit would have been unnecessary given Adewusi’s antecedents but that it was good for official purpose, adding that it provided opportunities for one-on-one dialogue.
He said: “APC is meant for like-minded people and all progressives. We know you well. There is no doubt that you are a relevant politician. On behalf of the Executive, I welcome you.”
