A political group within the All Progressives Congress, Tinubu Transformation Agenda (TITAN 2023), propagating the 2023 presidential bid of former Lagos State governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has said the transferred aggression to the party’s National Leader was unwarranted.
The group in a statement signed by its National Coordinator, A.B. Ahmad, and National Publicity Secretary, Dr AbdulAzeez Olatunde, said: “All the smear campaign directed at the personality of Jagaban Borgu who had been out of government since 2007(13 years ago), and has no official role in the current dispensation is transferred aggression that is uncalled for.”
The group also noted that all the establishments being vandalised is tantamount to aggravating the current unemployment crisis in the country.
It noted: “This time in our country, Nigeria calls for sober reflection from both the protesting youths and government.
“On behalf of TITAN 2023, we appreciate the good intentions of our dynamic, precious and virile youths for putting the reality check on the government about their plight with the depreciating human values in our country vis a vis arbitrariness and impunity of SARS operatives of Nigeria Police; hike in electricity tariff; increase in fuel price; ASUU strike, unemployment to mention just a few of the deplorable tendencies afflicting our youths.
“That the government of President Muhammadu Buhari acted promptly should be appreciated by our youths and they should allow the government some time to actualise their demands.
“Let us remind the youths of Nigeria that this is what two key figures of the last administration,Dr (Mrs) Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, former Minister of Finance, and Former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi had said at various fora between 2012 and 2014 that they pity those that would govern Nigeria from 2015.
“Meanwhile, the youths are urged to do everything possible by ensuring the restoration of peace and normalcy to our country because it is better we preserve our own country than to enslaving ourselves in another man’s country.
“Case study of happenings across the world to our compatriots,i.e. South Africa, Ghana to mention just a few amongst other countries is the more reason why we have to preserve our own.
“The youths are urged to tap into a good number of life changing programmes of the government of President Muhammadu Buhari to bring succour to your aspirations for good living like the ongoing Youth Investment Fund Program, N-Power, N-Tech, N-Agro, Trader money, Market money et al.”
The group also urged the Federal Government to demonstrate more transparency in seeing that all these noble causes cascade down the ladder without any arbitrariness and impunity to reflate the economy and douse the tension in the land.
“Finally, we are appealing to the youths to ensure that the hoodlums that have hijacked the well intended peaceful protest on #ENDSARS are appealed to, to halt the mindless vandalisation and looting spree going on across the country and collaborate with law enforcement agencies for their apprehension.
” Let’s allow peace to return to our country for we have no other country we can call our own,” the statement concluded.
