The Nigerian Baptist Convention has appointed the Director, University of Ibadan Distance Learning Centre (UIDLC), Prof. Oyesoji Aremu, as the Chairman, Educational Management Board of the church.
In a July 8 letter to Aremu, the Convention President, Rev. Olasupo Ayokunle, indicated that Aremu’s appointment was approved by the Executive Committee of the church at its May 23, 2020 meeting.
According to the letter, Aremu’s appointment took effect from July 1, 2020 for a period of the three years, and renewable for another tenure based on satisfactory performance.
As chairman, he is to formulate policies for Convention’s schools, consider reports by the Directorate of Baptist Mission Schools, consider and approve proposals for capital projects as well as supervise the activities of the directorate.
He will also consider and approve appointments, discipline and promotion of principal officers of the directorate. The new chairman will also formulate policies on collection and disbursement of funds.
An Educational Psychology expert, Aremu has worked extensively in personnel psychology including human security and guidance and counseling. He was deputy director of the UIDLC before assuming the position of director. He is of the Faculty of Education of the premier university.
