President Muhammadu Buhari’s scheduled visit to Ogoniland, Rivers state for the flag off of Niger Delta clean up has been canceled.
Government sources said Buhari would now be represented by the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo
The development may not be unconnected to security threats by Niger Delta Avengers who had threatened to kill the President should he step foot in the region.
Two weeks ago, President Buhari cancelled a similar trip to Lagos where he was supposed to commission some projects executed by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode. An ear infection was blamed for the cancellation.
