President Bola Tinubu has said Nigerians must jealously guard and protect democracy like a jewel, adding that his administration will upload the dignity of Nigerians.
Tinubu stated this in his Democracy Day address on Monday.
He said the democracy we currently enjoy must be guarded and not allowed to crumble.
The president said the annulment of June 12, 1993 presidential election became the seed that germinated into the birth of the democracy we currently enjoy.
“Abiola sacrificed his life in unyielding and patriotic defence of democracy. The democracy Abiola died for is one that promotes the welfare of the people and not just do the bidding of the few at the helmet of affairs,” the president said.
The president added that his administration will govern with fairness, invest in infrastructure, education and fulfill his campaign promises.
