Caitlyn Jenner has been honoured with the Arthur Ashe Courage Award. She received the award on Wednesday at the ESPYs in Los Angeles.
It was her first public appearance since announcing her transition from a man (Bruce) to a woman, (Caitlyn) in April.
Towards the end of her acceptance speech, the 65-year-old former Olympian, could not hold back tears as she thanked her family for their supportg and understanding. His mother, sister and nine adult children were in the audience.
“The biggest fear in Caitlyn Jenner coming out was I never wanted to hurt anyone else, most of all my family and my kids” she said of the long-time struggle over her sexuality.
She added: “I’m so, so grateful to have all of you in my life. Thank you”.
