Parents of graduating students of the 2016 set of Caleb University, Imota, Lagos State yesterday charged graduands of the institution to be self reliant and strive hard to add values to their immediate environments.
The concerned parents, Mr. Dele Akinbohhunje, Bishop Olurounbi Ademola and Rev. Dr. Kuponu Bishop of Ijebu North Anglican Diocese spoke separately in interviews with our reporter.
They argued that, gone are those days when a graduate will sit down and awaiting white collar job to come on his/her way.
The parents then advised the graduated students to be creative and productive in any society they may found themselves instead of writing applications for job seeking here and there.
“You should think on what to do to influence your immediate environment and the country positively through job creation”.
“The present economic recession in the country does not give room for government to offer people employment, even in some areas where employment opportunities is being Pronounced.”
“It is only two percent out of the hundred percent applicants that were being offered with Jobs while the remaining ninety eight percent would be left roaming about the street.”
They felicitated with them on their graduation but affirmed that, they should be productive and pro-active in their areas of specializations for effective societal transformation.
The parents however charged them to be good ambassadors of Caleb University by discouraging untoward acts that could bring disrepute to the institution.
